On Saturday, we spent the day together as a family and went to the zoo. We had someone come to be on the grounds while we were away and were excited about our trek out. Joel and Kezia had been to the zoo before on a school field trip, and enjoyed showing us all that they remembered.
The weather was hot, but we brought lots of drinks and snacks along. The price was reasonable and we had a good time. I noticed that lots of people brought lunches along, and then if the kids needed to nap, they just put down a blanket and everyone slept. Talk about a relaxed atmosphere. No one is embarrassed at sleeping in public, hey, if you paid for a day pass, then might as well stay the day!
I remember that the first family outing we took in Fresno was the zoo. We were unfamiliar with Fresno, but wanted to do something as a family, so we went to the zoo. Non-threatening, fun, we could be tourists/folks-that-have-no clue and no one would know. It's a safe place to visit when you don't feel quite at home.
Afterward, we went to a burger place across the street and ate so much. Is a theme present here? Can you guess what it is? We were all getting tired; Kezia mentioned three times about having a nap and Asha laid down on a chair. It was high time we hailed a taxi and headed home.
What a great day out.
